I started working with glass in 1995, while I was training to be a sculptor at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.  At that time I was mainly experimenting with glass, making stained glass windows, fused glass plates and casting glass for sculptures.  During this phase I developed a love for the beauty of glass and an admiration for its inherent contradiction: while it can be sharp and menacing when it breaks, it is smooth and attractive when it is whole.  Glass has enchanted me and so I have returned to it constantly throughout my artistic development.

Upon my return to Venezuela at the end of the year 2000, I decided to set up a glass working studio, where I could make fused glass plates for sale.  I finally managed to set up this studio at the end of 2002 and have been working making fused glass plates since then.

The inspiration for my work comes mainly from nature; from the blowing wind, flowing water, growing flowers, sprouting seedlings and reflecting sunlight.  I am also influenced by the aesthetic of Chinese and Native American art, the first of which I was exposed to both during my stay in Hong Kong (92-94) and during my posterior selection of Asian Art History courses all throughout Art School.  The influence of Native American Art has come about as a consequence of my personal research into this area as soon as I discovered that the designs of this art form fascinated me.

What I look for with my work is to create unique glass plates which allow me to research my personal aesthetic while at the same time resulting in a beautiful piece that can communicate with the viewer and embellish any home.
